It's tradition to have spend Christmas eve with the McDowell side (dad's side) of the family. We eat and play the dirty Santa game. So much fun. This year it so very special in so many ways! So thankful for a wonderful family!

My dad's brother, Ray, has had their dad's Purple Heart in a lock box for years, and this year at Christmas he gave it to their sister, Ruby. Aunt Ruby has Grandpa McDowell's medals from war on display in her house, and Uncle Ray decided it was time to let her have it and be able to display it with the rest of them. She was so overjoyed to have received it and brought her to tears:) Below is my dad with his dad's Purple Heart Medal.
Uncle Ray also refinished some of Grandpa Despains old chairs and gave them as presents this year. So sentimental! Love them!!!
